Policy & Advocacy for School Curriculums
Presently, the Nepali national curriculum of history lacks accurate information about World War II, and fails to mention the occurrence of the Holocaust. AFPN works diligently towards updating current national curriculums to provide Nepali youth with accurate, pertinent, and up-to-date information on World War II and the Holocaust.
AFPN has developed several amendments to the 10th Grade Social Studies curriculum that incorporate a more comprehensive overview of World War II and the history of the Holocaust as a means to teach students about human rights and peace. Such amendments would provide Nepali youth with an understanding of the consequences of genocide and ethnic cleansing. At the end of each AFPN school visit, volunteers ask for students and teachers to show their support of these changes by signing a pledge and petition. Our amendments and the pledges have been presented to the Director of the Curriculum Development Center in Nepal, and we are waiting for his feedback on the matter. |
